Derma Lab eyes opportunities in sensitive skin market, targets eczema and sun care for growth

Derma Lab launched in 2020 and positioned itself as the ‘derma serum expert’ for Asian skin to meet the consumer demand for more doctor-led skin care products.

“There are many sensitive skin care brands out there that have been around longer than us. But we pride ourselves in the fact that we test on Asian skin. We have a 200-strong team strong team of R&D scientists that look after this brand and develop the products you see on the shelves here today,” said Joanne Tan, head of marketing and e-commerce, Wipro Consumer Care Singapore.

The company has since launched a range of serums for sensitive skin, including its latest Hydraceutic Pink Vitamin B12, which claims to boost the health of the skin barrier with Vitamin B12 and ceramides.

According to the firm, it has been clinically proven to increase moisture in the skin by 1.6 times and have a 24-hour moisturising effect.

In addition to its serums, the firm also launched Gentle Relief Cream which was designed for those who suffer from eczema.

Speaking to CosmeticsDesign-Asia, Tan said that while the company initially focused on skin care, it discovered a formula it believed could be beneficial for those who suffer from eczema.

The company conducted a study on over 100 individuals who were already using an eczema cream from another brand.

According to the results, 72% of participants agreed that Derma Lab’s Gentle Relief Cream was more effective than the current brands they were using. Furthermore, 77% said they would switch from their current product to Derma Lab’s.
